What is ClientFence?

ClientFence is billing and client management for hosting providers: invoices, payments, orders, hosting, domains and support tickets in one client area. It is built and secured by the cPFence team. See every feature.

Is ClientFence really free?

Yes. ClientFence is released under the Apache License 2.0 and there is no licence fee. You run it on your own server.

Is ClientFence open source? Where is the code?

Yes. The full source code is on GitHub, under the Apache License 2.0.

Is ClientFence secure and ready for production?

We already use ClientFence in production for our own business, Linkers Gate, and plan to use it for cPFence billing soon. Our team has carried out extensive penetration testing and code review, fixing security issues and strengthening the platform. Running it ourselves means we rely on the same software we offer you. Our testing has been limited to our own stack and servers. Before going live, carry out extensive testing on your own setup to confirm that ClientFence works as expected for your business. Security is an ongoing effort. We welcome developers and security researchers to review the source code, test their own installations, and report potential vulnerabilities privately to our team. The more eyes on the code, the better we can make ClientFence.

Do I need Enhance?

No. ClientFence also has server managers for cPanel/WHM, Plesk, DirectAdmin, CWP and HestiaCP, and a Custom one. Enhance has the deepest integration, with client hosting pages for mailboxes, usage, DNS checks and one-click sign-in. Connect an Enhance server.

Can I move from WHMCS?

Yes. The WHMCS import brings clients, services, domains, invoices, payments and tickets with attachments into a fresh install, and keeps WHMCS ids and invoice numbers. It only reads WHMCS: nothing changes there, and nothing is emailed or charged. Read the import guide.

Is ClientFence a FOSSBilling fork?

ClientFence started from FOSSBilling 0.8.8 and was reworked across 47 rounds of independent testing and code review: 664 issues fixed, 269 of them critical or high-severity, and 55 features FOSSBilling does not have. It is a near-new platform, not a simple fork.

What do I need to run it?

PHP 8.3, 8.4 or 8.5 (64-bit) with the usual extensions, MySQL or MariaDB, a web server that reads .htaccess rules (such as Apache or LiteSpeed), and cron every five minutes. See the requirements.

Which payment gateways and domain registrars does it support?

Payments: Stripe, PayPal and Custom gateways for your own instructions, such as bank details; clients can also pay from their account balance. Domain registrars include Dynadot, Namecheap, Internet.bs, ResellerClub, Reseller.id, ResellBiz, and NetEarthOne. Email and Custom workflows are available for manual fulfillment. See Payment gateways and Set up domain sales.

How do updates work?

ClientFence checks for a new release once a day. One click on Update ClientFence saves a backup first, then installs the release, with automatic rollback if it cannot be unpacked. You can turn the daily check off. Read the update guide.

Does ClientFence send data home?

No. There is no telemetry. The only call home is the daily check of the release list on clientfence.com, which sends nothing about your site, and you can turn it off.

Which languages does it support?

ClientFence ships with 30 language and regional options for both clients and staff. Arabic, Hebrew and Persian use right-to-left layouts in the client area, admin navigation and dashboard. You choose which languages are available. Set up languages.

Where do I get help?

Report bugs in GitHub Issues and ask questions on the ClientFence forum. ClientFence is free, so there is no ticket support.
